A Lenoir County native, Chris has spent his entire life in the rich South, his southern roots evident. Born in 1978, Chris was exposed to music very early. With a strong musical family, it was only a matter of time before melodic notes would flow from his fingertips. His father put a guitar, or at least a smaller version of a guitar, in his hands around the age of 4 and began teaching him the history of music. Starting with a 2-string boogie, it was then the blues became ingrained deep in his soul. His musical knowledge has grown and now in his 30's, Chris has matured into an inspirational rhythm & blues guitar player.
In and out of bands his entire life, Chris has had the pleasure of playing along side many great musicians, including The Marshall Tucker Band, Cracker and The Bill Lyerly Band. Playing mostly Alternative and Modern Rock, Chris has finally come back to his roots with The Donald Underwood Thompson Band, playing smooth blues just like his heroes, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King, Muddy Waters, and Eric Clapton. The blues are set deep in this young man and you can hear it in every note.
